Classes And Carriages

First Class Open Carriage

Our traditionally furnished First Class MK1 & MK11 carriages allow you to travel in style. First Class passengers also receive a complimentary tea or coffee on each part of the First Class Carriages A & B are open carriages with private tables for 2 and tables for 4 at either side of the aisle. All tables include traditional table lamps (in the Mk1 carriages) and the upholstered seats are more luxurious with extra leg room. First Class passengers also receive a complimentary tea or coffee on each part of the journey.

Compartment Carriage

Compartment Class Carriage D, the 'HP' Compartment Carriage  (only available on the morning trip when MK1 carriages are used) is a vintage carriage with compartments that seat up to 6 passengers per compartment. These compartments have a door which leads onto a corridor that runs the full length of the carriage. This will appear on the booking menu as a Compartment Class booking. The price is per compartment, which seats up to six passengers. When booking this, you will be guaranteed the sole use of the compartment for up to six passengers. Please note there is no food or drinks included in the class. There is a buffet carriage available on the Jacobite, and passengers are also welcome to take their own refreshments on-board.

Standard Class Carriage

Our Standard Class carriages offer the same train experience at exceptional value for money. All our standard class passengers travel in refurbished vintage Mark I or Mark II coaches and will be seated around tables for 4. Please note that no food or drinks are included in this class of travel. There is a buffet carriage available on the Jacobite, and passengers are also welcome to take their own refreshments on-board.

Whilst all our trains use MK1 and MK2 heritage rolling stock we would like to note that the carriage colours and styles may vary in both the interiors and the exteriors.  Which includes; lighting, style of décor and heating/air conditioning may vary in both standard and first-class vehicles.
