We are normally able to offer a range of catering and refreshment facilities on our trains, specific details are displayed within the itinerary for each individual tour.
The on-train catering team will endeavour to provide a good range of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic beverages and light snacks to buy on board the train.
Passengers in standard and first class accommodation are also welcome to bring their own food or picnic hampers to compliment the range the buffet is able to offer. The friendly buffet staff are also there to help you too and will endeavour to assist if they can do so in any way. Subject to availability we also operate a number of trolleys providing at at-seat service of hot and cold drinks and snacks. We also ask kindly that passengers do not consume their own alcoholic drinks in Premier Dining Class
All items on sale are subject to on the day availability.
Locomotives for this years tours will mostly be supplied from the West Coast Railway Company fleet based at Carnforth. The Dalesman trips are scheduled to be diesel hauled to either Hellifield or Carnforth, then by Steam Locomotive to Carlisle.
Unless otherwise stated within the tour program, we do not usually know which locomotives will be operating our tours until a few days before each trip departs, and they can (in general) be any locomotive from our fleet of engines. If a specific locomotives is stated as being on our train, this is subject to availability and may be changed at short notice for operational reasons.
Whilst on board the train, you remain responsible for all personal belongings. Each style of carriage may vary and overhead racks may be available and there is often space between seat backs and luggage rack areas at the end of the carriage. All personal belongings must be stored safely in these areas. When we are at our destination you may leave personal belongings aboard the train at your own risk. Please do not leave valuables on board.
The train is usually locked after passengers alight at the destination and usually goes to local sidings/depot for the period of our stay. Please do not leave luggage or personal belongings in the aisle or door entrances as this will cause an obstruction and can prevent movement through-out the train.
