4th June 2026

The wait is over. The Jacobite, our world-famous steam journey between Fort William and Mallaig, is back up and running, with morning departures now operating seven days a week. Dates for the afternoon service will be announced shortly.
Tickets for both Standard and First Class are now on sale.
For the start of the season the train is formed of our Mk2 heritage carriages, so every journey carries the character of the classic age of rail.
Before you travel
A few things worth knowing:
In periods of extreme heat, we may need to suspend the service for the comfort and safety of our passengers.
At times of high fire risk, or in the rare event of a locomotive issue, the train may be hauled by one of our heritage diesel locomotives rather than steam.
The guard may hold a small number of seats for sale on the day at Fort William Station. These are cash only, strictly first come, first served, and can never be guaranteed, so please book ahead and make sure you have your ticket before boarding.
