Jacobite Morning Service - Urgent Notice

15th May 2025

Please see below important information regarding the rolling stock that will be used for this service for the next few weeks.

Monday 19th May.

Due to the extreme weather conditions we have experienced from the start of our 2025 season we are having to carry out additional and essential maintenance on our carriages. Starting on Monday 19th May 2025 and lasting for a few weeks, the normal carriages used on the morning service are to be replaced with our ex British Rail Inter City rolling stock in their traditional colours of Blue & Grey. The use of these carriages on the Jacobite service is a rare opportunity especially when hauled by an historic steam engine (weather permitting).

These carriages will only be available for use on our morning service from the 19th May for the next few weeks. Although the exterior differs from the usual carriages, the interior is still of the same standard so we are confident that you will have an enjoyable trip.

History:

The BR InterCity Mark 2 (MK2) coaches were a crucial part of the InterCity network from the 1960s, serving a as a link between the steam era and the subsequent privatization of the railways. These heritage coaches were built between 1963 and 1975. All coaches are fitted with CDL and most were fitted with Air Conditioning.

All booked passengers will be notified of this rare opportunity where it affects them.
