This year, the ´Lunes Rivers Trust´ Steam Special is destined for the ancient walled city of York. Picking up at Carnforth, Wennington and Bentham, our special charter will take you on a wonderful journey across some of England´s finest countryside.
York: We enjoy the sights and smells of steam on both legs of the journey to York and a generous break of approximately 3 hours is offered in this famous, once Roman, city. A vibrant festival city with Roman roots and a Viking past, offering an adventure for everyone. Imagine a city with Roman roots and a Viking past, where ancient walls surround contemporary independent shops and vibrant eateries and there’s a festival for every month of the year. Welcome to York - the Original City Adventure! Perfectly placed half-way between London and Edinburgh and with the glorious Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Wolds right on the doorstep, York is unlike any other English city. There’s thirty world-class museums you can explore, the best racecourse in the country and a thriving cultural scene A great day out for all the family.
Once you have booked you will be given a booking reference, your tickets and confirmed timings will then be sent to you 7 days before travel. Early booking is advisable as this train has been oversubscribed in previous years.
This day has always proved to be a terrific family day out.
Premier Dining: Passengers will be served a full English breakfast with complementary Bucks Fizz on the outward journey. A delicious four course evening meal preceded by canapés and Champagne will be served on the return journey. Dinner will be accompanied with a half bottle of wine per person. We kindly ask that passengers do not consume their own alcoholic drinks in Premier Dining Class.
We are able to offer a vegetarian menu with 7 days advance notification but regretfully we are unable to offer any other special dietary requirements (i.e. nut allergy, vegan, gluten free diets etc).
First Class: Passengers will be served a breakfast roll on the outward journey and sandwiches and scone on the return run, this will be accompanied by a service of tea or coffee.
Standard: Our Standard Class carriages offer the same train experience at exceptional value for money. All our standard class passengers travel in refurbished vintage Mark I or Mark II coaches and will have access to the buffet carriage for the purchase of teas, coffees and light snacks.
