"Santa Claus is Coming to 'Steam Town'"

We are delighted that Santa has confirmed he will be paying us a visit taking time out from his busy schedule.

Both Santa, his Elves and helpers will be taking over our train, and he invites you all on board, children will meet Santa in his Grotto specially constructed on the train. Grown ups can sit back and relax in your vintage Mark I or Mark II carriage and witness the majesty of our beautiful countryside at Christmas time, whilst enjoying some festive cheer.

Route Information - 24th November, 1st & 8th December

The trip is a circular route picking up passengers in Lancaster. The train heads north along the coast line through Bolton-le-Sands and Carnforth, before passing over River Bela. From here we travel along the edge of The Lake District on our approach towards Oxenholme. Continuing north, we then head for Carlisle. Passing through the magnificent scenery of the North Pennies to the West, we can enjoy the smells and sounds of the steam locomotive. Here we pass through Penrith and Upperby Bridge junction and follow River Petteril which runs through Cumbria. Finally we reach Petteril Bridge junction before turning to head south back through the dramatic countryside and arriving back at Lancaster.

Route Information - 15th December

The trip is a circular route picking up passengers in Lancaster and Carnforth. The train heads east along the Keer Valley crossing the Lune Valley and into the hills towards Wennington. From here we travel along the edge of the Forest of Bowland and through the unmanned Bentham Station. Continuing easterly we head for Clapham, through dramatic scenery with the Yorkshire Dales to the north and the Forest of Bowland to the south we continue up through the Valley of the River Wenning before heading south to Giggleswick and down to Settle Junction. Following along the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park we arrive at Hellifield before turning to head along the Ribble Valley and on to Clitheroe.

From Clitheroe we continue south across the 48 arch viaduct at Whalley towards Blackburn. Leaving Blackburn on a westerly route we head along open countryside through Cherry Tree, Farington Curve and Bamber Bridge and on to Preston. From Preston we head back to Lancaster.
