Llandudno Junction to Glasgow
Departs – Wednesday 14 March 2018
From Llandudno Junction, Colwyn Bay, Flint, Chester, Frodsham and Warrington Bank Quay.
Departing early morning from Llandudno Junction our splendid diesel hauled heritage train - sporting its British Rail maroon livery - makes its way east towards Chester. From here we head north to Warrington and the West Coast Main Line for a scenic journey to Scotland's former European city of culture, Glasgow.
Our route takes us through some dramatic scenery, with stunning views across Morecambe Bay, followed by the mountains of the English Lake District and, after our long climb to Shap summit, we enter Border country and approach the city of Carlisle. Passing through Carlisle, our hard working diesel locomotive takes us across the border at Gretna and then tackles another hard climb up to Beattock summit, before passing through Carstairs and on through the rolling scenery of the Scottish lowlands into Glasgow.
Glasgow has much to offer with attractions ranging from a fascinating transport museum, through to the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow Cathedral, the botanical gardens and of course the shops of what has become known as the 'style mile'. After our break we retrace our route home.
