The Settle Carlisle and Tyne Valley Pullman

Scarborough to Carlisle
Departs – Saturday 14 April 2018

From Scarborough, Seamer, Filey, Hunmanby, Bridlington,Driffield, Beverley, cottingham and Brough.

Join us for a delightful, scenic circular tour to enjoy the rugged Dales scenery of the Settle to Carlisle route combined with the rolling hills of the Tyne Valley in Northumberland. The Grade II listed Ribblehead Viaduct is one of the highlights of this journey. Constructed from limestone and red brick and at 400m long and 32m high, it is a stunning and admirable feat of engineering that all seasoned enthusiasts should experience at least once.Continuing north from Ribblehead we plunge into Blea Moor tunnel, the longest on the line. We then enjoy sweeping views along Dentdale as we pass through the highest station on the line, Dent. The stunning scenery continues as we head north to the more gentle landscape of the Eden Valley, the Eden Gorge and our destination - the border city of Carlisle - where we break our journey. Carlisle may surprise the visitor with its pedestrianised centre, castle, Cathedral and some remarkably well preserved city walls and gates.

We expect to depart Scarborough around 0700, (Beverley 0820) and break in Carlisle for around two hours. Arrival back into Scarborough approx. 2100 (Beverley 1940).

Pullman Dining includes a full English Settle to Carlisle Linebreakfast with complimentary Bucks Fizz and a light lunch or elevenses, depending on finalised timings, on the outward journey. Champagne and canapés followed by a delicious four course dinner accompanied by a half bottle of wine will be served on the return leg.
