BETWS-Y-COEDThe Conwy Valley Explorer I
Peterborough to Betws-y-Coed
Departs – Saturday 13 May 2017
From Peterborough, Grantham, Newark Northgate, Retford, Doncaster, Wakefield Kirkgate, Manchester Victoria and Chester.
Join us for a scenic day out to remember as our vintage diesel hauled Pullman train travels through the rugged countryside of the Pennines and Snowdonia to the pretty mountain town of Betws-y-Coed - a truly stunning resort in a glorious setting.
Departing early morning from stations listed above we head west from Doncaster via Manchester Victoria and Chester to Llandudno Junction where, having enjoyed the beautiful sea views along the North Wales Coast our train reverses for the climb along the Conwy Valley to the beautiful mountain resort of Betws-y-Coed. The line twists and turns as it winds its way into the hills of Snowdonia offering spectacular views across the Conwy estuary and into the mountains of the Snowdonia range. We expect a two to three hour break at Betws-y-Coed ample time to explore its pretty streets, charming shops and riverside walks.
You may wish to stay on the train to Blaenau Ffestiniog, famed for its lunar landscape, the result of many years of intensive slate mining, where there will be time for a short leg stretch and a glimpse of the narrow gauge railway which runs all the way to Porthmadog.
Pullman Dining passengers will be served a full English breakfast with complimentary Buck's Fizz plus elevenses or light lunch (depending on finalised timings), on the outward journey. A delicious four course evening dinner preceded by canapés and Champagne will be served on the return journey.
Pullman First Class passengers will be served pastries on the outward leg and a savoury of the day followed by cake will be served on the return journey. To accompany this there will be a complimentary service of tea and coffee.
Standard and First Class passengers will have access to a buffet for the purchase of tea, coffee and light refreshments. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments or indeed a tasty picnic to enjoy as the countryside passes by!
First Class and Pullman Dining passengers can book a private table for a supplement of £20.00 per person.
