Travel in style aboard our beautiful vintage diesel hauled Pullman train 'The Spirit of the Lakes' direct from Peterborough and the stations above to North Yorkshire where we visit the charming resort of Whitby. Departing Peterborough early morning we make our way north joining the East Coast Main Line at Doncaster. Our journey will take us through the North Yorkshire Moors where we can enjoy the stunning scenery of the beautiful single track Esk Valley Railway as we make our way from Middlesborough east to the coast.
Whitby has plenty to offer with its cobbled streets, busy harbour, famous Abbey and towering cliffs. Browse the shops for bargains in the narrow lanes and perhaps purchase a sample of Whitby jet. Alternatively you may choose to take a short boat trip from the many on offer in the harbour.
Departing Peterborough around 06:30 we expect to break for around three hours in Whitby arriving back into Peterborough around 22:30.
Pullman Dining passengers will be served a full English breakfast with complimentary Buck's Fizz plus elevenses or light lunch (depending on finalised timings), on the outward journey. A delicious four course evening dinner preceded by canapés and Champagne will be served on the return journey.
Pullman First Class passengers will be served pastries on the outward leg and a savoury of the day followed by cake will be served on the return journey. To accompany this there will be a complimentary service of tea and coffee.
Standard and First Class passengers will have access to a buffet for the purchase of tea, coffee and light refreshments. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments or indeed a tasty picnic to enjoy as the countryside passes by!
