Join us for a great winter's day out to remember aboard our heritage train which will take you on a scenic journey through Cumbria to the border city of Carlisle.
Departing Scarborough around 06:30 we make our way through York and across the Pennines with diesel in charge to Preston where our steam engine awaits to take over for the run to Carlisle.
We now enjoy the sight and smell of steam as we thunder along the West Coast Main Line with stunning views to the mountains of the English Lake District. Our engine will have to work hard as it hauls its heavyload over some of the steepest inclines on English rails which confront us on our way north.
After a break of around two hours in Carlisle, with its pedestrianised shopping centre, Castle and cathedral to enjoy, we return with diesel in charge over the West Coast Mainline and across the Pennines to home stations.
Premier Dining passengers will be served a full English breakfast with complimentary Buck's Fizz plus elevenses or light lunch (depending on finalised timings), on the outward journey. A delicious four course evening dinner preceded by canapés and Champagne will be served on the return journey.
