Enjoy a great winter's day out to remember aboard our heritage train which will take you on a scenic journey through Cumbria to the historic border city of Carlisle.
Departing Stevenage early morning we make our way north with diesel in charge to Doncaster from where we head across the rugged hills of the Pennine chain to Preston. Here our steam engine awaits to take over for the run to Carlisle.
We now savour the nostalgic sight and smell of steam as we make our way along the West Coast Main Line with stunning views to the mountains of the English Lake District. Our engine will have to work hard as it hauls its heavy load over some of the steepest inclines on English rails which confront us on our way to the border city of Carlisle.
After a break of around two hours in Carlisle, which boasts a pedestrianised centre, Castle and cathedral plus numerous shops and eateries to enjoy, we return with diesel along the Tyne Valley and East Coast routes to home stations.
Premier Dining passengers will be served a full English breakfast with complimentary Buck's Fizz plus elevenses or light lunch (depending on finalised timings), on the outward journey. A delicious four course evening dinner preceded by canapés and Champagne will be served on the return journey.
Premier First Class passengers will be served pastries on the outward leg and a savoury of the day followed by cake will be served on the return journey. To accompany this there will be a complimentary service of tea and coffee.
Standard and First Class passengers will have access to a buffet for the purchase of tea, coffee and light refreshments. You are also welcome to bring your own refreshments or indeed a tasty picnic to enjoy as the countryside passes by!
First Class and Premier Dining passengers can book a private table for a supplement of £20.00 per person.
